That Glad Reunion Day

'Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls.' Hebrews 12:1-3

My mom used to tell us the story of the death of an aunt quite often. It is obvious that it has left a lasting impression on her life. As she was slipping from this life into eternity her aunt began to relate that she was seeing family members who had already died prior. When she mentioned seeing a nephew, his mother burst out in to shouting and praise. That is not what you would expect at the death of a sister. Soon, she gasped and exclaimed, "Oh!, There's Je..." She was unable to finish her sentence.

It will be an exciting day when we join the massive worship service near the feet of the Lamb. We will be able to meet the heroes of the Bible, and join them in fellowship. We will see God's servants from all ages, and see the humble Christians who so dedicatedly served their savior throughout the church age. Also, think of the joy of meeting our saved family and friends! Like the old song says, "glad day, a wonderful day, that will be a glad reunion day."

Having spent much time this week studying some of the historic moves of God, such as the Herrnhut missions and prayer revival and the Great Awakening and the Holy Ghost outpourings worldwide at the turn of the 1900s, We need to be yearning for a move such as these in our day. We will be excited to see those former warriors of the faith. However, shouldn't we live our lives in such sweet surrender to Christ that they are equally as excited to meet us when we enter heaven on that glad day? We need to live as a reasonable sacrifice to Christ.
