John 14:6--Who will you believe?

"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."                                                                                                             John 14:6

Who do you believe? There are those who say that Jesus is one of many ways to heaven, and then there is Jesus Christ, Himself, who claims to be the only way to heaven. Just read the article below under the heading of a great falling away if you wonder what I am talking about. Those "Christians" who argue against the concept of one way in Christ say that the Bible was changed, yet they can't prove it. They listen to "experts" who say that only 18% of the red letters in the scripture were actually the words that Jesus spoke, but they can't prove that either. They claim that God is so loving that he would not be mutually exclusive, but they don't understand God. Multiple arguments of circular reasoning are made, but they come down to this one truth; they don't want to believe God. They want to buy into Satan's lie that we are gods so we can make our own pathway.

So what are Jesus' qualifications to be the Only Way? Several hundred prophecies proven to predate His birth and Crucifixion seem to make a good argument. Hundreds of miracles that are mentioned in the Bible and confirmed by the words of even hostile witnesses also point to His authenticity as the only way. Maybe a life that stands out like no other man; a sure sign that Someone wanted Him noticed! Attestation from His family and friend's--most of whom gave their lives in bloody martyrdom (no one dies for a known lie). For sake of time, I think an empty tomb stands out like no other person claiming some special revelation!

What do the scriptures say?

"Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." Acts 4:12

"To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins." Acts 10:43

"And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned." Mark 16:15-16

"He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him." John 3:36

"Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them. I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture." John 10:7-9

"He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life." 1 John 5:12

"For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ." 1 Corinthians 3:11

"For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;" 1 Timothy 2:5

"How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;" Hebrews 2:3

"See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven:" Hebrews 12:25

The final proof for me is what He has done in my own life and marriage. No, I can't believe that He did not mean what he said. I believe He is clearly the only way to the Father. So, who will you believe?

Hated By All

"And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake." Luke 21:17

"If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified." 1 Peter 4:14

It is easy to detect a major shift of attitude towards believers in the past two decades. Unfortunately, many believers do not seem to be noticing it. While American believers might know that there are Christians that are being martyred worldwide, the fact that it is not happening here is giving us a sense of false security. Christian persecution in America is slowing enveloping us like the slow advance of an evening shadow across the landscape. That same shadow is rapidly darkening the nations of Europe and Canada which were once strongholds of Christianity. Men can't continually resist and deny the blood of the Crucified One without allowing the land to be enveloped in wicked darkness.

The end time text I mentioned a couple of weeks ago mentioned that men would become fierce. This is found in 2 Timothy 3:3. Paul is basically saying that men will become like untamed savages without the ability to control their wickedness. We are seeing this everywhere around us but may not be recognizing it for what it is. Men will be confronted with truth, but they will ferociously fight against that truth in Christ.

Here are just a few examples:

Christian speech targeted as 'hate'

As you can see from these type of articles that are appearing at a greater frequency, many are becoming more fierce towards God and His church. So what are we to do? Pray harder, love more, and share the love of God found in the triumphant cross of Christ even more. If persecution does come, nothing will happen to a believer that God does not allow for the advancement of the gospel. We simply need to trust Him knowing that these things may happen. Remember, stand fast and fight the good fight. You fight in spiritual realms from the victory of Christ and not for victory!
