Already Under Judgement--The Downward Moral Spiral

"And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient: Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them." Romans 1:28-32 The next push brings serious problems. Notice that it centers around not wanting to keep God in their knowledge. Do you remember all of the legislation about removing God from every public place. Many "haters of God" have seen fit to remove the name of God from America. Men are no longer allowed to pray in Jesus name at all government functions lest someone gets offended. Yet, Jesus says clearly that if you are ashamed of Him, He will be ashamed of you before His Father. The "giving over" brings a reprobate mind. This means that many will not even feel conviction for sin anymore. Maybe that is why America's church altars are empty? What is worse is that many churches and denominations have followed the world rather than followed God. There is a long list of sins that accompany this list. One that stands out for me having been a teacher is the sin of "disobedient to parents." Our schools are now a shambles with homosexuality taught as a viable choice in many places. Children can't pray, but they can take the name of Jesus out of a song and replace it with our president's. Most have a different name than their mother due to the epidemic divorce rate and the whole of the countries view of what marriage is seems confused. For those who do not know, marriage is a shadow or type of Christ's relationship with His church. Just like Adam was "operated" on and a rib taken, Jesus was pierced in the side from which the blood and water that birthed the church flowed. When you mess with God's plans and redefine them, Watch out!

So where is the church in all this chaos? Asleep! So many are preaching a false health and wealth gospel that the majority of believers are caught up with giving to get rich rather that agonizing over the lost soul of our nation. GOD PLEASE HELP US!

Already Under Judgement--Chaos in the Eighties and Nineties

"For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet." Romans 1:26-27

I want to reiterate the understanding that God wills that men repent and turn so that He may bless their lives. God's purposes in judgment are meant to be redemptive. However, if men choose to reject Him, His utter holiness demands justice. He must and will bring terror on the land simply by withdrawing His gracious, merciful hand and allowing the enemy of men's souls to do as he wishes.

Because America has chosen not to turn to God during the tumultuous 60s and 70s, the next push from God would allow a completing chaotic understanding of human sexuality. It was the 80s when the homosexual movement began to come out in the open and into clear view. Now again notice what verse 26 mentions. ""For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections:".

What used to be a shame to even discuss became the alternative choice that seemed to have the backing of the media immediately. Why not? We are nothing more than animals anyway according to the godless. unprovable, fact-less theory of evolution that permeates the entire educational system. Also, this is the time when many serial killers began to make headlines. there had always been a few, but not as prolific as now. The drug scene grew terribly despite the best effort of law enforcement to contain it. The divorce rate climbed higher and higher and the term "dysfunctional family" entered our vocabulary. The spiral downwards is accelerating to the nth degree. Not only will things get worse since God must give us up. What is the church doing? Many are beginning to allow all the godlessness and worldly opinions erode their faith. One other major change began in the nation during the nineties. Our government made the mistake of aligning itself against God's covenant purposes with the Jewish nation. America is already under judgment and the frequency of disasters upon the land is increasing.

Already Under Judgement--The Sixties and Seventies

"Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen." Romans 1:24-25

The beginning of the Sixties and early Seventies found America changing established ideas of morality and replacing them with alternate views. This was the generation of "free love" and communal living. It was the beginning of the age of rampant drub abuse and lax ethics. Many were leaving Christianity in order to explore "new ideas" about religion. Eastern Mysticism rose throughout the land. It was a generation noted for its rebellion against established authority. It was a generation that saw the foundation laid for the destruction of the family and a serious rise in divorce. Many landmark cases changed the nation forever and set us on course for even more judgment. This was the time period that saw the murder of innocent children become a legislated right. This was the generation of, "if it feels good, do it." The Bible shows this to be a judgment, "God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts: to dishonour their own bodies between themselves."

It was a direct sign of a judgment from God. Look at the text verse above--"Wherefore God gave them up..." The idea is that when men turn their back on Him, He pulls back His protection a bit which allows more darkness to ensue. The word "gave them up" also has the connotation of being pushed. God pushed them a little farther away from Him not to destroy because God's judgments begin with redemption in mind. He is trying to get them to repent and return such as happened in America after the roaring 20s. If they fail to repent, they get pushed a little farther away. Eventually the people get so far away that repentance seems to be nearly impossible and then God must, in His holiness, judge the land. This is the very idea where Paul is discussing a man caught in sin in Corinth. He said that the man needed to be delivered over to the devil that he might be saved in the day of Christ. In other words, let the devil kick him around a little until he repents. God always has redemption on His mind, but we must choose to turn to Him in sincere repentance.

Things will not get better in the next two decades and they clearly follow the pattern of Romans 1. America is already under judgment!
