The Coming Elamite Revival: Hope for the Iranians

And I will set my throne in Elam, and will destroy from thence the king and the princes, saith the LORD. But it shall come to pass in the latter days, that I will bring again the captivity of Elam, saith the LORD.
Jeremiah 49:38-39

It is so easy for us to hope that those who are troubling us would be judged and destroyed forever.  God does judge and He has and will destroy.  However, God's ways are not like our ways.  Isaiah may have caught this sentiment best when he penned, "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:9)"  Whenever God deals with a people He always has redemption in mind.  Is that not why we call Him Father?  Fathers correct their erring children in love in the hopes that meaningful change will follow.  This is Jeremiah's message to the Elamites, a fierce warrior like people using terror to impose their way.  His overall aim is to rid Elam of its violent actions and establish peace in the land.  How merciful considering who Elam is.

Elam was a region south of Persia.  On today's maps it is a large portion of Southeastern Iran, the very land threatening world peace through radical ideology and false religion.  However, God seems to see them as the kid raised in the tough neighborhood who has hidden potential.  Maybe this is why He promised revival!  The history of Elam is interwoven with constant warfare.  Look at the map.  From Hammurabi's domination, Assyrian overthrow, Neo-Babylonian invasion, Grecian domination, it is easy to see that this was and is a rough community to live in.

The Elamite skirmishers were know for their expertise with the bow and this is borne out three times, at least, in scripture.  The prophets Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel all mention this fact.  Archers tend to fight from a distance rather than engage in close, hand to hand combat.  This is exactly the situation that the world finds itself in currently.  Iran is threatening the entire world with its production of indirect fire weapons systems like missiles with a growing threat that those weapons will soon carry weapons of mass destruction.  Also, Iran controls a large part of the terrorist activity in the world.  What a threat! Ezekiel accurately described this very situation as well saying that Elam, "caused their terror in the land of the living (from Ezekiel 32:24)."  It is a land of terrorism and terror tactics.

Elam's day of retribution is nearly here.  Coupled with the belief that robbing the world of peace will allow a messiah-like figure to arise and radical hatred for Israel and the West, Elam has the world on the brink of a new world war today.  It appears from Jeremiah's prophecy that this will cause a series of battles with Elam that will eventually lead to complete destruction.  Notice the words of Jeremiah 49:37, "For I will cause Elam to be dismayed before their enemies, and before them that seek their life: and I will bring evil upon them, even my fierce anger, saith the LORD; and I will send the sword after them, till I have consumed them..." To seek and to follow after takes time.  It appears that God will turn the world against Elam continually with a series of battles until the land is completely subdued.  Persia near Elam, is among those who are devastated in the Ezekiel 38-39 war as well.  In Jeremiah's day Persia and Elam were separate nations but are both a part of Iran today.

Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Behold, I will break the bow of Elam, the chief of their might.
Jeremiah 49:35

However, that is not the end of the story for Elam as many would wish.  Now comes redemption.  God allowed Elamites to be the first witnesses of the power of the gospel and the descent of His Spirit's presence.  Notice who is in the crowd in Acts 2:9, "Elamites."  Elam had a complex government that revolved around lords and overlords and it is still a land with a  complex government.  Jeremiah sees this system tossed as the reign of Messiah Yeshua begins.  The rule of Christ the Prince of Peace will extend over Elam to bring peace and promise.  They were among the first to see a move of the Holy Spirit and they will see another move of His presence in Christ's Kingdom.  Hear Jeremiah 49:38, "And I will set my throne in Elam, and will destroy from thence the king and the princes, saith the LORD."  While a future series of wars will scatter them, God promises to bring them home, bless them, and restore them.  "But it shall come to pass in the latter days, that I will bring again the captivity of Elam, saith the LORD (Jeremiah 49:39)."  This is grace!  Grace gives even to the most undeserving a place in the Kingdom of Christ.  Grace is the very heart of the Gospel. It is not only extended to Elam, but is is also directed to you through the atoning death of Jesus!

The four corners of the world are about to be involved with a series of Middle Eastern wars--some may even call this WWIII.  The fact that the signs of this warfare are screaming at us means that God, ever patient, is extending you the same grace that will fall on Elam. Please accept His plan of redemption for you.  Hurry!  Do it quickly!  World events are pointing to the return of the LORD!  Jesus Christ is Soon2Come!

Almost Burnt Through!

God is the LORD, which hath shewed us light: bind the sacrifice with cords, even unto the horns of the altar.
Psalm 118:27

Dedicated to my friend, Michali

That is odd!  Why would the writer of this Psalm mention tying a sacrifice to the altar?  Let's review the  sacrifices commonly offered briefly.  First comes the burnt offering that was cut up and burnt as the name implies.  Next comes the peace offering--also cut up and burnt.  Then the sin offering was cut up and burnt.  The trespass offering was partially burnt and partially eaten.  The daily sacrifice was killed and burnt daily.  Other offerings dealt with grain, oil, wine, and frankincense.  Nothing here is alive when it is offered so why does it have to be bound?  Why would you tie a dead, cut up sacrifice to an altar?  It is not like it is going to jump off of the altar or something!

All of the offerings were symbolic of one event, and the future offerings of the Millennial Temple are memorials looking back to that same event.  It was the voluntary sacrifice of Jesus Christ at the cross of Calvary.  His atoning death meets our every need.  In Christ, the LORD has given us light.  He has shone on us the light of grace and mercy.  However, He has also held back the wrath of God on our sins in patience.  There will be a time when God's patience will wear thin!  There is a time when the light is dimmed and darkness invades!  This is the message of the tied sacrifice.

The brazen altar represents the atonement of Christ and is tied to the message of the cross.  All that believers possess is brought about by the grace that was shown at that cross.  Not only that, grace was shown to the entire world.  Remember the taunts at the foot of the cross where Jesus was bound by nails? "If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross."  (Matthew 27:41)"  That would have been a bad day had Jesus done that!  In Matthew 26:53 we read, "Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?"  Had he came down there would have been immediate judgment!  His being bound reminds us of the commitment of His love for us,  fallen mankind!

The power of the message of the cross, the very message of God's grace in Christ's atoning death, has gone out into all of the world.  It is the power of God to save!  GOD truly has given light.  Today, you can choose to accept that gift freely even now.  Those horns on the brazen altar also remind us of that the message and power of God's salvation is extended to the whole world--whosoever will can be saved by God's power.  There were 4 horns on that altar facing four directions.  Horns are symbolic of power and four represents creation or the world.  The power of God can reach the the uttermost part of creation and save the vilest of sinners!  Even the dimensions of the brazen altar speak that message.  It was 5 x 5 x 4 cubits.  Five is symbolic of grace while four signifies the world.  The message of the altar is grace upon grace for the world.  Furthermore, brass is the metal that represents judgment.  Christ took the judgement for sin--your judgment for your sin--at the cross.

The rope was not to hold the sacrifice to the altar.  The rope was symbolic of the sacrifice holding back the wrath of God for sin.  Jesus was nailed to the cross to hold back God's wrath.  Literally, the weight of the world's sin, your sin, was upon Him. He was/is all that was/is holding back the wrath of God.  What will eventually happen to a rope on fire, however?  It will burn thin then break.  There is a day coming, and coming soon, when the rope will break and the wrath of God will erupt against those who have rejected the sacrifice of Christ.  Christ will come down with that heavenly host He mentioned.  It is inevitable.  When that day comes, God's justice will be the attribute of God for the day.  What day?  The Day of the Lord--and it is ever nearer.  Where will that leave you?  Have you accepted Christ's sacrifice as your own?  Have you placed your hands on the Lamb of God and transferred your sin to Him at the cross, or will the rope break and the wrath of God issue forth against you?  If you are lost and undone, don't delay.  Call on Jesus to save--quickly--as He is Soon2Come!

Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.
Jude 1:14c-15

Fools for Jesus: Science Says Conservatives are "Dumb"

Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.  And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.
1 Corinthians 3:18-20

Joseph Goebbels, the Nazi Reich Minister of Propaganda,  was a master at spin.  He understood well that in order to destroy an unwanted people group justifiably, you needed first to victimize and vilify them.  Using the media, Jews were made out to be ignorant, warmongering, sub-human, stupid, bloodthirsty, greedy, and a clear liability to humanity.  Posters and magazines like Der Sturmer (The Storm) plastered this anti-Semitic propaganda everywhere.  As an example, the front page of Der Sturmer always highlighted the sentence, "Die Jude sind unser ungluck"--The Jew is our calamity.  No matter where a German went they were reminded that the Jews were the cause for all of their problems.  After all Goebbels clearly stated, "Think of the press as a great keyboard on which the government can play."

Furthermore, Goebbels often stated that the repetition of a theme would eventually bring about a common belief that the theme, no matter how originally offensive, could be made acceptable to the masses.  Let's put it in his words:  “If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”

The First Amendment of the American Constitution granted the press freedom to print whatever it wished.  The hope was that a free press would assist in keeping  America's citizens educated, informed, and that it would assist in preventing injustice from the government to the street. Yet, with this freedom comes the great responsibility to maintain its free and unhindered use to assist and build up the people and not to become a tool of wealthy, opinionated, individuals with hidden agendas and motives.  In short, a free press was to be a deterrent to  tyranny.  Interestingly enough, it is becoming obvious to all that America's press is less than free and in control of those purposefully using media-bias to persuade the masses much as Goebbels envisioned.  Many are becoming so fearful of a knowledgeable public that current steps are being taken to squelch this freedom. Consider the following article as proof that we are becoming a less free nation.  U.S. ranks 47th in media freedom, org says - CBS News

It is also obvious to anyone looking that the media is becoming quite anti-Christian in its reporting.  Also, being run by a clear liberal majority, it is also being used to victimize anyone with a Judeo-Christian belief system or conservative values and beliefs.  As with Nazi control of the media, the best place to start is to make the targeted group look "dumb", dangerous, and a serious threat.  "Now that is silly!  That is not happening in America!", some may say.  Is it?  Consider this news article found running on many news sites today.  Remember, Goebbels said, "If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. "

Notice the last article?  It is from Discover Magazine.  The Nazis also used faulty science to make their foolishness more palatable and acceptable.  The lie of a branch of science called eugenics was used to make the Nazi sub-human accusations sound legitimate.  It is not surprising, then, to see a magazine like Discover linking conservatism to bad genes--this is just another old Nazi trick.  Next, they will be running adds to find modern day versions of Josef Mengele.   Also notice that the article vilifies anyone who seeks to call homosexuality a sin--that is the true "prejudice" they are discussing.  The message is that smart people know "gay is OK".

With the flood of recent events such as the passing of the NDAA bill, the senate bill to illegalize live streaming, the rise of the TSA and other paramilitary groups, and a whole host of other warning signs, expect persecution soon.  It even seems that there is a push to victimize believers amongst those in our military though the average soldier volunteered to defend our rights and not rob us of them.  Church-Burning Video Used to Promote Atheist Event at Ft. Bragg | FOX News & Commentary: Todd Starnes

My friends, I am urging you to look around.  This nation has changed and many seem to be working overtime to subvert it.  However, there needs to be no fear.  It is time to fall on our knees before God and repent!  It is time to humbly seek His direction and guidance once again.  We need Christ to bring renewal and revival!  These are just more signs along the road that is leading to the last great confrontation of good and evil.  We were warned centuries ago that the last days would be perilous times.  It is time to buckle down, witness to family and friends, and prepare our hearts!  Jesus Christ is Soon2Come!

If Judeo-Christian values makes you dumb, Thank GOD I am an idiot!
"We are fools for Christ's sake, but ye are wise in Christ;"

Strange Sounds in the Earth: Warnings of a Regime Change?

"And all the people came up after him, and the people piped with pipes, and rejoiced with great joy, so that the earth rent with the sound of them...And Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet have anointed him king in Gihon: and they are come up from thence rejoicing, so that the city rang again. This is the noise that ye have heard."
1 Kings 1:40 & 45

And he (Jesus) answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.
Luke 19:40

"What is that?"  "I hear a trumpet sound!"  "Do you hear that rumbling, groaning noise?"  "Does any one else hear that chime sounding noise, or is it just me?" "Wow, that is scary!"  These are statements that are being made in many parts of the world recently.  Have you heard the reports about strange noises seemingly coming from the earth?  Like unusual weather patterns, strange animal die-offs, powerful earthquakes and tsunamis, wars and rumors of war, and many other unusual phenomena worldwide, many are asking the question, "is the end upon us?"  It sure does remind one of the words of Jesus!  "Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken."  Luke 21:26

The end may actually be a misnomer!  It is not the end Christians are looking for, but a new beginning!  It is the time of a regime change.  Not a change that a man nor any group of men can bring.  No!  It is one brought by the return of Christ, Himself. The Great KING of KINGS is near to returning and taking His rightful, blood-bought place as the LORD of all creation reigning from Jerusalem!  Jesus is coming and even the earth seems to bear that out.  Jesus is coming to end the age of the reign of sinfulness, but the earth, itself, endures forever.  The closest thing in scripture to an end is the new creation of the heavens and the earth after the close of Christ's 1000 year reign.

While listening to a friend, Paul Begley, today on his show "The Coming Apocalypse" that airs daily from 12-3 EST on LBN, the scriptural significance of these strange sounds seemed to jump out from the pages of scripture. Now I know that many are looking for naturalistic explanations!  It is the way of man.  Most men/women tend to try their level best to explain away all of the power of God because their sinful hearts want to remain in willful rebellion.  They can't even believe one come back from the dead--Jesus! "Fish were bigger in Jonah's day, the marshy 3 inch deep, Reed Sea is where Israel crossed, the burning bush is a species indigenous to the region: blah, blah, blah, blah blah!"  That universalized, naturalistic rubbish is actually fulfilling the warnings of 2 Peter 3 and Jude, friend.  Remain blind if you wish--but you will wish you had trusted Christ in 1000 years!  He is not only the coming King, but in 1000 years He, the nail-scarred one who died for you, will be your judge if you reject the mercy and grace he showed you at the cross!

I know some are saying that it is a natural phenomenon.  Some say it may be groans caused by problems in the magnetosphere.  Some claim it is an interaction to recent solar spikes although the sounds were heard before the recent CMEs. Many ideas will be purported, I am sure.  Yet, one must ask the question, why do we not hear of this more often if it is such a natural occurrence?  Why is this happening at this time when even the secular world is in such an end-time quandary?  The Muslims are looking for the Mahdi, the Jews their Messiah, the Christians know it is the signs of the return of Christ, many others are looking for ancient prophecies from various ancient civilizations to be fulfilled. Bottom line--everyone seems to be expecting something! Well, maybe not the atheist--they have nothing to look forward to except for natural entropy to one day wind down the energy of universe into oblivion.  Have you ever stopped to think that natural entropy may be a natural response to the fall of creation caused by the fall of man? Anyway, why are these things happening now on the heels of so many other unusual phenomena and a world on the brink?

First Kings  chapter 1 is the real life account of the change of rule from David to Solomon.  It also is a shadow of the coming rule of David's greater son--the Son of Man--Jesus Christ.  This is the same Son of Man that David also calls "my Lord" which denotes the deity of Christ as well.  Before the change, however, an interloper stealing the throne arises, Adonijah.  Like Solomon had to remove a usurper from His throne, Christ will also remove the Antichrist from His.  What signaled to Adonijah that he was in trouble?  He heard the earth rending with the sounds of praises, chimes, and trumpets!  Satan, Antichrist, False Prophet, his minions, can you hear--the earth is rending as the True Heir is about to return!  You're attempts to thwart His reign are already doomed before they are even started!

This same scenario has actually played out once.  Solomon was placed on David's donkey and ridden through the streets of Jerusalem.  Again, this was a shadow of the triumphal procession of Christ into Jerusalem on the Sunday before His resurrection.  It marked the beginning of the week of His passion.  The people were so loud that the scriptures say that the city rang.  Matthew's account uses the Greek word krazo to explain the shouts of the people (Isn't that a word that we have in English that the naysayers mockingly call believers?).  Jesus then responds to those who hate Him and His rule by saying, "I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out."Is that what is being heard?  Is the earth groaning and crying for the return of its Lord?  Are the rocks crying out because a God hating world will not praise the Rightful King?

Not only that, but Jesus uses a common first century teaching technique for driving His point into the heart of His enemies.  For a Rabbi, what He did not say was often as important as what he said.  For instance, If I said "For God so loved..." or "The Lord is my shepherd...", could you finish it?  How much more true was this of the teachers in Jesus day?  They knew the Messianic prophecies inside and out.  Jesus responds to them in Matthew quoting Psalm 8:2a.  Believe me, his enemies knew the implications of that entire verse!  "Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger."  He called them enemies without saying it and they ran off like angered babies!   Sounds in the earth are also signs of warning for unbelievers according to Isaiah 66:6.  Maybe the earth is telling you that the time of the Antichrist is nearing?  Is it just about time for the mark of the beast, 666?

Maybe we are hearing a "natural phenomenon"?  Who made the natural, friend?  Was it not the Super-Natural Creator?  Scripture does certainly tell us that the universe itself groans for redemption.  Paul wrote, "For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now (Romans 8:22)."   I pray these noises remind you that the uncertain times of the usurper are nearing.  The Antichrist and the Tribulation are about to begin! It is also certain that the creation also has a part to play in the return of the Rightful King and its longing for a regime change.  The earth will tremble and reel like a drunk man and shake like a tent in the wind.  Stars will fall from the sky. The moon will appear as blood, and the sun will be darkened.  Then mankind will see the sign of the Son of Man in the sky and cry for those same rocks to cover them. So maybe, just maybe, the groaning earth now is uttering to those who will hear that the Lord is about to come.  The rocks are truly crying out, "Hosanna, Blessed is He that comes in the name of the LORD!"  Don't put Him off too long.  Jesus Christ is Soon 2Come!

Have You Found Grace?

But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.
Genesis 6:8

I found myself in a online debate the other day with a man proclaiming that all religions hold truth.  It is a fairly common belief.  God must have many paths to heaven so any valid means that will get you there is fine.  He then asked me to show how Christianity and "my" true gospel were any different that that of any other religion.  Fair enough!  How is true biblical Christianity different than all other religion, and what makes it distinct and unique enough to be the only valid truth?  In one simple word--grace!  Have you found grace?

Rather than discuss the faulty reasoning in God allowing many truths (which has been done on this site frequently), let's look at what makes the gospel distinct and separate from all other religion.  Religion, no matter who the "prophet" was who instituted it, has one main method of salvation.  It is the belief that each person can be good enough, do enough good works, or follow a distinct set of rules so that God is impressed enough to allow that person to enter heaven after their merits are weighed in God's scale of justice.  In other words, each man or woman can do enough good to be his or her own savior.  It sounds reasonable.  Yet, the Bible clearly warns, "There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. Proverbs 14:12 & 16:25)"   Furthermore, it is constantly repeated that all sin and are unworthy of heaven.  Question:  How much sin did it take to force Adam and Eve to leave Eden and eternity in the first place?  ONE!

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Romans 3:23

Simply put, man made religion ignores God and his many unique attributes, two of which are fearful and awesome when throughly considered.  The first attribute is His utter and complete holiness.  He is absolutely holy.  This is the very cry of the angels in His presence continually, "HOLY, HOLY, HOLY!" He is so holy that no being tainted by even one sin can forever stay in his presence.  This is the very reason that a simple rebellion in Eden forced Adam from the garden until a means to atone for sin could be enacted.

Next, God is ultimately just.  Let's say that someone lived for 25 years without committing any theft; however, circumstances at 25 convinced him/her that armed robbery would be OK.  What would you think of a judge that did not sentence this armed robber for his crime? Should one act of hate or murder at 60 prevent justice from being rendered? Using an old formula I learned somewhere long ago, let's say that you only sin just 3 times daily.  Maybe a "white" lie or two and the omission to do good or be truthful.  In a year you would have 1095 crimes against God's court.  If you lived 70 years at that rate, you would enter God's just and holy court with 76,650 indictments against you!  Do you now wish to convince THE just and holy Judge that you are good enough to enter heaven's society?

John Newton: Writer Of Amazing Grace

The author of the great hymn, "Amazing Grace", John Newton understood clearly that he was undone before a holy God and in need of grace.  He had a long list of transgressions.  As a blasphemous atheist, he had led many into the false notion that there was no God.  He even watched one of his "disciples" in futility, a man he led to atheism, die a Christless death in Africa.  He had been involved with the death of hundreds as a member of the slave trade.  The list of transgressions escalated quickly by his early 20s until he one day realized that he was hopelessly lost.  As a youth, he had tried to live right.  He even dabbled in asceticism, punishing himself to appease God.  All it did was to make him see the futility in trying to be good enough to please God while building a hatred towards a harsh, demanding God.

Grace is God's free gift of salvation by trusting in the atoning work of Jesus.  God also loves you!  Divine love is one of His many attributes too.  He does not wish for you to be caught in sin nor to try and serve as your own advocate in his court.  Only a fool represents himself.  Jesus will assist you in pleading guilty in God's court today if you will accept him as your advocate.  " And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous...( 1 John 2:1b)." In grace, he will then assure that the atoning death at His cross covers you sin.  You will be saved by God's free gift and not by trying to appease a holy, just God with good works.  This is what makes true Christianity stand out distinct and separate from all religion of man!  God is the savior--not man! It is the message that made John Newton receive this free gift of pardon when he realized he was guilty and undone before God!

Time is short.  Jesus is coming.  God's justice is about to cause Him to set in motion those events which will bring an end to the sin of humanity.  Are you ready?  If not, find grace!  It is amazing!  Hurry!  Jesus Christ is Soon2Come!

Old Testament Rapture Shadows: The Days of Lot

"Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed. In that day, he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back. Remember Lot's wife."
Luke 17:28-31

It would be impossible to see all that the LORD Jesus is implying here with his linking the last age to Lot's escape from the tribulation of Sodom, His coming, and the rapture of the church in just one post.  Therefore, given the vastness of this type and shadow, the focus here will be the condition of the world just prior to Lot's departure from Sodom and the ensuing cataclysm befalling that region.  No sooner had they left the city when the fire and brimstone of God's wrath began to fall; furthermore, the angels that came to literally pull Lot and his daughters out testified that they could not even commence the judgment as long as Lot was present (Genesis 19:22).  What a rich parallel to today assuming that we are that generation like unto Lot's.  It is a rich parallel that should force the Christian to act even as Lot did and witness to all even while looking up and listening for a distant trumpet blast.

While most consider "sodomy" as the primary sin bringing the wrath of God, scripture clearly shows that this was one of many indicators that the foundation of society had been built on the sands of human understanding rather than the bedrock of God's revealed word.  Ezekiel gives us much evidence of this fall from God's directives and his ideas also coincide with Paul's downward spiral found in Romans 1.  Ezekiel writes specifically of Israel in 16:49-50 yet this was due to the reemergence of the same attitudes God saw in Sodom before he destroyed it. "Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy. And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw good."  What sin underlies pride, idleness, and a lack of compassion?  Selfishness!  Furthermore, selfishness is the very root of all sin.  In Sodom, there was no longer a reason to bridal selfish lusts and desires to the place that each man or woman did that which solely benefited his/herself.  The New Testament calls this being given over to the carnal mind.

Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
2 Peter 3:3

This concept of a self absorbed world casting off the restraint of scripture is a major theme with all of the New Testament writers that speak on the end of this era and the coming of Christ.  Peter said that it would be a time of blasphemous scoffers mocking the word of God while they follow their own lusts and desires (2 Peter 3:1-9).  Paul warned Timothy of a time when mankind departs from the true faith and truth itself while wholeheartedly accepting demonic teachings (1 Timothy 4:1-5).  He continued in his next letter to Timothy that this would be a dangerous, perilous time for those of faith.  Selfish, wicked, and falsely motivated preachers would preach lies rather than propound God's whole counsel rightly divided.  Sadly, the people want this and turn away from the truth to follow fables (2 Timothy 3:1-9 & 4:1-5).  Jude also warns of impostors in the pulpit following their own selfish, pernicious way in his short book.  John warns that it will be a time of antichrist and that it has already started.

Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time....Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son."  1 John 2:18 & 22

To John, the Antichrist was more than a man that appears in the tribulation.  That is a part of the concept as he later reveals "the Beast" in Revelation.  However, antichrist is more than that.  It is a selfish spirit that seeks to move Christ from the center place of salvation.  It is why John states clearly that anyone who seeks to set Christ Jesus aside from being savior is "against Christ" or antichrist.  It is the apex of selfishness!  "I can be my own savior!"  "I need not God nor His Son."  "I can follow my beliefs and ideas."  "Who needs scripture anyways?"  "We are our own God, the captain of our own destiny."  Need more be written, or can you already see that the Days like unto Lot's are upon us?  Jesus Christ is Soon2Come!

Old Testament Rapture Shadows

And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all. Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.
Luke 17:26-30

The rapture.  Some love it.  More hate it. Most deny it.  Many consider it false doctrine.  Yet, the Bible clearly teaches it with direct scriptural evidenced  interpretation and  with many types and shadows.  Not only is it a New Testament doctrine, but, to the chagrin of many rapture haters, it is also an Old Testament teaching.  To say that it is a recent addition to the list of Christian doctrines brought about by a girl's dreams in the 1800s is to clearly ignore scripture. Furthermore, it seems clear from the Old testament types and scriptures that speak of its timing, it is a pre-tribulational rapture; an idea which also leads to many passionate arguments among believer's in the rapture.  The Lord will remove His church before He allows the final seven years of Daniel's seventy weeks to commence signalled by the signing of a peace treaty between Israel and the Antichrist as described in Daniel 9:24-27.

In the series titled "The Rapture in the Old Testament" the three texts examined all alluded to a hiding from Divine anger for those faithful to God.  Isaiah testifies that the faithful will be hidden and the dead shall raise to life before the indignation of God's wrath is poured out.  Zephaniah agrees with Isaiah saying that the meek of the earth (evidence of a universal event) will be hid as a treasure during the Day of the LORD's anger in Zephaniah 2:1-3.  Finally, Psalm 27 also tells of a hidden, treasured people and it associates itself with the timing of the Tribulation and return of Jesus by association with  the Jewish Fall High Holy Days.

However, the Greatest Prophet, the very target of all Bible Prophecy, Messiah Jesus, himself, teaches on the rapture and gives us an outline with His association of the days of Noah and Lot as related to the Tribulation and the day of His return to battle the Antichrist's forces at Armageddon while saving His blood relatives, the nation of Israel.  Those days of tribulation, Daniel's seventieth week, prepare the world for His revelation to Israel as their Messiah.  All the world will then see Him as the blessed redeemer of Mount Calvary.  They will also see Him in his awesome ferocity as the Captain of the LORD's hosts, a Man of War (Exodus 15:3)!  He will forever reign as King of Kings from Jerusalem.  He will ever serve as humanity's Priest of Priests from the His holy temple.  He will forever proclaim the Truth, as He is the Divine truth giver, the Prophet of Prophet's.  Immanuel--God with us--will reign supreme!  Jesus' hints found in those two events recorded in Genesis relay valuable information. They are shadows of judgement on the earth and a prior escape for the faithful.

Both of these shadows are all encompassing of complete judgement on godlessness.  They speak to much more than just a rapture.  However, in both stories, there are evidences of a rapture before the Day of the LORD even as was clearly referenced in the above Old Testament verses.  In the wicked days of Noah, God sent the inhabitants of the earth a holy witness who faithfully proclaimed a coming universal judgment.  Noah worked and preached repentance until the day the ark was ready.  When God gave the word, Noah and his family entered the ark and safely rode out the storm and gave the world a new beginning.  Yet, Noah is not the entire shadow.  He tends to remind us of the Faithful Ones family that is shielded throughout the Tribulation even as is testified to in the Book of Revelation.  Noah is symbolic of Israel and a select few gentiles (son's brides) riding through the storm of the Day of the Lord and then being allowed to start life in a new age.  That new antediluvian world is a direct shadow of the rebuilding of the world after the  Tribulation during the millennial reign of Christ.  Furthermore, Noah is the 10th from Adam according to scripture.  Ten is a biblical number symbolizing completion.  Remember, Daniel says the end of the Seventy weeks brings completion (see Daniel 9:24).

It was the seventh from Adam, Enoch, the great grandfather of Noah who foreshadowed the pre-tribulational rapture of the church. Like the church walks with Christ, Enoch walked with God.  He is the first rapture of scripture.  He also clearly warned the world that a time of tribulation, a flood of God's righteous indignation, would be poured out.  Enoch was so sure of the impending flood that he named his son Methuselah.  In Hebrew, the name means "the man of the dart" or "his death shall bring."  Clearly, Enoch was preparing for a time of Great Tribulation for the world.  He prophesied that the death of his son, Methuselah would bring about the flood shortly after.  One Jewish tradition found in the Masoretic Text teaches that Methuselah died 7 days (allusion to the seven years of tribulation?) before the rapture.   This 7th man (a biblically significant number speaking of perfection) was taken to heaven alive before the terror of the flood.  He is not only the 1st rapture in scripture, he is also the first shadow of a pre-tribulational rapture in scripture.

We will look at the days of Lot in the next post.  I will also share some news then.  Due to a surgery last Monday and some following complications, I have not had much time to read the news.  God bless!  I adjure you to be like Enoch--walk with God and wait patiently for the day He takes you.  That day is Soon 2Come!

And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.
