Speaking of Demon Worship and Withcraft

I just read this article. It proves some of my points in the last blog entry.

Redeem the time for the days are evil!

Last Days Concepts--Revelation's Sins of Wrath

As the list grow in 2 Timothy 3, the sins become more grievous. Mankind will be without natural affection. This isn't hard to see today. How many fathers have abandoned their children to selfishly live their own lives? How many mothers in the last two decades have killed their own children? How many children have been implicated in the murder of their parents in the last thirty years?

Men and women will become incontinent or without self control. They despise those who try to live righteous, and that is why I have started posting the stories of Christian persecution worldwide. Hours upon hours worth of time playing games, watching TV, and spending million on sporting events reminds us that we are a pleasure loving generation. While these may not be wicked in and of themselves, coupled with a lack of self control and idolatry, they rob us of precious time with God.

So what is the point? I want to couple these lists with two other scriptural lists. Colossians 3:1-6 repeats many of these last days sins. Verse 6 gives added information. It reminds us that God's wrath will be poured out on the unbelievers for these sins. So when will that happen? In the tribulation, of course. Revelation 9:20-21 lists these same sins a men as being unrepentant during the trumpets judgments. Even while suffering, men will rebel against God rather than submit to His Son. Even God's tough love in allowing harsh judgments to open their eyes to Him forces them to curse Him even more!

Rebellion is a chief reason why the tribulation takes place. Looking at our rebellious society today show us that we are very near to the tribulation! Why do men seem bent on removing the name of Jesus or the Ten Commandments or anything that reminds them of the God of the Bible from all areas of public life? Why does our government spend millions to teach sex education and provide students with condoms and such just to then supply them tax dollars for an abortion while never allowing the concepts of abstinence to be taught? Why is it no longer politically correct to mention that America, Canada, and Western European countries share a common link to Christ? It is nothing more than rebellion. Notice in the vacuum created by casting off Christianity, our schools are filled with humanism and alternate religious views including the rise of radical Islam.

Revelation mentions demon worship! This has been ever growing across the globe in the last thirty years. Our television programming is littered with ghost chasers, with spirit mediums, and the like.

Revelation mentions idolatry and Colossians lists greed as idolatry. Maybe that is why we are continually bombarded with the message of buy, buy, buy if you wish to be happy!

The text goes on to mention murder. Even without the 300,000,000+ murdered unborn infants worldwide, the majority of the cities are desperately unsafe. Unconvinced? Stroll down a side street in Miami, Bangkok, London, or Tehran.

Sorceries--Pharmakeia in the Greek! From a craze for anything about witchcraft (hence the popularity of Harry Potter) to drug abuse in the streets, I think this one is about covered.

Revelation mentions sexual sinfulness. Do I need to mention the fight for gay marriages, the multi billion dollar pornography industry, online child porn, the ever growing sex slave trade, that over 90% of the internet use is for porn, the thousands of rape victims of whom many are murdered, and sex thrown at us constantly on TV?

Thefts? No need to go there either.

The point is that these sins are all growing worse each year now. They are a clear indicator that we are in the last days before Jesus' return and the time when God will pour out His wrath on those who commit such sin. If you think it is bad now, wait until the church is raptured and removed! I don't want to be here to check it out!!

We need, then, to hear "from such turn away" found in 2 Tim 3:5b. We must share the gospel, but we must avoid the acceptance of this type of sinfulness. Many today are preaching a message that does not deliver from sin but leaves the sinner a captive to their life style. They preach this in the name of God's love, but God in His love sent His Son to die for our sin! Jesus came to set us free from sin and deliver us from unrighteousness. Maybe that is why Paul mentioned having a form of godliness but denying its power? Be a witness, but avoid being ensnared by what you were delivered from. Love even the worst of men, but avoid getting your robes stained! Jesus is coming soon and we don't need to be pulled from this world in a way similar to Lot! God Bless You!

Last Days Concepts--Part two

"..blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,..." 2 Timothy 3:2

Notice as we go through this list of sins that they are all prevalent in our society! The presence of this much global immorality is a sure sign that the Lord is about to return soon. We need to make sure that we do not get so wrapped up in these things that we become too comfortable and forget that our primary mission is to share the gospel of Jesus Christ!

4. Blasphemy--I shared an article on Friday where a deluded young lady was making sexual suggestions to the pictures that most consider to be Jesus. Whether it is Jesus or not, ( and it probably is not) she made suggestions that would have been unheard of at one time anywhere. However, Jesus bashing by stating things like He could be gay, could have slept with Mary Mary Magdalene, is just a deluded man, and the list goes on seems to be the new popular thing to consider. It is this precious name that is uttered continuously by men worldwide as a common curse word or strung with common curse words. Hollywood has done their share in dragging this precious name through the ground over the last 30 years, and no end to it seems to be in sight. Well, yes there is! He is coming soon and no one will ever again dare to blaspheme Him!

5. Disobedient to Parents--Parents who dishonor God will naturally raise children that will dishonor them. Today, the chances in many places for a child to be in a gang, be killed, or be involved in crime is escalating. Recently, I saw a video of a young man, only 13, who smashed the face of a bus driver just for telling him to sit down. Having been a school teacher, I wished I could express the exponential growth of this rebelliousness in youth today. Juvenile crime is growing at a rate higher than any other crime category.

6. Unthankful--I well remember handing a person in need a full bag of groceries to have it thrown down while they stormed out. Their cry was, "that's all there is." It seems we live in a society where every on thinks that they are owed something. Children throw fits when they don't get the correct presents at Christmas, but sadly so do many parents. Those in severe need often complain when they don't receive above and beyond their need. Everyone seems to be looking for more! The Bible clearly teaches that if we have our basic needs met, to be thankful, but as we approach the last days, this spirit is seldom seen.

7. Unholy--There is a great interest in anything that has nothing to do with the Bible or the God of the Bible! If a teaching allows you to do as you please, then it becomes popular. It also seems to be a way of life today.

More on this tomorrow. Remember, we are going some where! God Bless.

Last Days Concepts

"This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,..." 2 Timothy 3:1-2

As I was reading last night, I read a portion of scripture that I have read and preached on for many years, but a portion of one of the verses jumped out at me as never before. I will eventually get to that verse but I want to show that we are close to the coming of the Lord by understanding the mindset of the world in the end of days. Paul was mentoring this young pastor, Timothy, while giving him great insight into the moral depravity that will be prevalent in the last days. While this list of sins will grow exponentially after the church has been removed, the fact that we see these sinful practices so saturating the mind of men reminds us that we are ever closer to the coming of Christ. Like Lot, many believers are getting so accustomed to these sinful practices that they are compromising in their service of Christ. We don't always realize that the enemy of our souls is out to neutralize our effectiveness as a witness by using our inconsistencies against us. Keep your robes white and eyes on the prize my friends! The Lamb is coming soon!

1. Mankind will become selfish. "...lovers of their own selves..." Selfishness is the very root of all sin. It comes from the mindset that I know better than God. Satan's flawed reasoning that we will be like God knowing good and evil leads us to think that we are the captains of our soul, so we don't need God the giver of life. It is the ultimate expression of selfishness. This is why most today are designing their own beliefs systems--their own way of salvation. Unfortunately, without Christ, our beliefs are futile and foolish.

Christians often mask their shortcomings using the excuse, "God knows my heart". You are right, so he warns us that our heart is desperately wicked and that we need the unchangeable Word to keep us on the right track. (See Proverbs 19:3, 19:21, Jeremiah 17:9) Our heart is so wicked that the only hope for your heart is the blood washing of Jesus Christ. In Noah's day, the heart of man thought of only evil continually, and Jesus warned us that the last days will mimic the days of Noah. Our selfish hearts must be given to Christ by faith and guided by the clear, revealed truth of scripture; scripture that is as unchanging and eternal as its Divine author.

2. "Covetousness" When does it seem that we ever have enough. We are constantly bombarded with advertisements, commercials and advice that says we need more and more to stay happy. It seems the eyes of man are never satisfied. We need better cars, bigger houses, and finer things even if it means working continuously while neglecting our God given duties (our relationship with Him, family, church, benevolent deeds etc.). This is in direct contrast to Christ's words to not lay up temporary treasures here, but to lay up treasures in heaven. It is the opposite of the two great laws of love. I can't take my new living room suit to heaven, but I surely can influence my family and friends so that they will be there in eternity with me! The craze for more and more has grown so much in the last few years, and it is a sure sign that we are too focused on the temporal rather than the eternal. Unfortunately, it seems to be the focus of a majority of "preaching" these days. "What does it profit a man..."

3. "Boastful and proud" These are the twin sons of selfishness. The educated are too proud to receive a simple plan of salvation. The rich are too successful to risk God directing their finances. The poor are too proud to be looked down upon for having faith. Pride simply keeps us from needing God. We are too proud to humble ourselves. Today, many are so proud that they see no need of God since they are gods themselves.

We will be going farther with the rest of this text over the next few days, and I will share some deeper insights soon. Stay with me; we are going somewhere. God Bless.
