Following the Instruction Manual

But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer. And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins. Use hospitality one to another without grudging. As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

1 Peter 4:7-10

Not only do we often forget the positive message of prophecy, but we also sometimes forget to follow the instructions given in prophecy. Although this letter of Peter applies to all of the church age, look at the special timing involved in the first sentence. He said, "But the end of all things is at hand.” To paraphrase—“Jesus is coming soon so pay attention and follow my directions!” Since we understand that the coming of our savior is soon, we had better follow the subsequent steps to make sure we are ready.

Step One—Be on your toes! That makes sense. If the coming of Messiah is imminent, then I want a holy life in Him that will honor Him and not be found following “my own heart”. Why did I mention the heart thing? Well, I hear it all the time from people who are clearly not given over to Christ in all that they do. It can be seen by the choices they make and the words that they say. Jesus Christ and their relationship with Him are not the top priority. They excuse their often tainted lifestyle with that phrase. God does know the human heart! He says it is desperately wicked and who of us can know it? He wants us to have a new, undivided heart that is eagerly serving Him and waiting on His return. How is your heart? Let the Holy Ghost check it out for you since we have the awful tendency to justify ourselves at God’s expense.

Step Two—Pray! I wonder if that is prophetic too? It seems that most people in Christian circles do everything else but pray. Jesus is coming back but we are too busy putting our hands out for more blessings and spending less time on prayer and intercession for a lost world heading for judgment. Name any great revival and I will name the men or women that prayed for it in advance. There is a lot of busyness in the house of God. We shout and sing and preach and play and eat and take trips and….. Do we pray? Can it be said of your church that it is first of all a house of prayer?

Step Three—Cover one another! I heard it said recently that we have two choices in this matter. We can cover one another, or we can kill one another. God said to cover one another with love. There are too many killing with gossip, slander, unforgiveness, bitterness and the quieter “Christian sins”. We may not drink, cheat on our husbands or wives, do drugs, but we will sure kill each other with outright hatred and fleshliness while thinking nothing about the need to repent. God wants love above all things—read the instruction manual above again if you are not sure! You know, that unconditional love that God requires and has towards His children. God’s love always seeks the best and watches our backs. That is the type of love that patterns God’s love for you when he overlooks your faults and lifts and encourages you to keep on going because the finish line is just ahead. Yes! That agape kind of love is what He wills.

Step Four—Use hospitality! This word “hospitality” is a strange word in the original Greek. It is philoxenos. It literally means love of strangers. Xenophobes are people who are afraid of strangers. Many Christians are apparently spiritual xenophobes. We hide from the strange and sinful in our little four walled structures called churches while those estranged from the saving grace of Christ are dying and going to Hell at a rate of thousands per hour. God forgive! Be kind to all—Christians and non-Christians—for the sake of Jesus and the precious blood He shed.

Step Five—Do something! God has given you a gift of some sort to help the church. We spend too much time on allowing the professionals to do the work that God may want us to do. Sure your pastor and other ministries directors will need to account for how they used the ministry gifts that God gave them. However, the last time I checked we all have to give an account at the judgment seat of Christ. Do something for Jesus’ sake!

Step Six—Whatever you do, do it by the power of the Holy Ghost in your life! We also spend too much time relying on the arm of the flesh to accomplish God’s purposes and then wonder why the work that we did does not stand the test of time. We are His servants and we need to do things His way.

Remember, Jesus is Soon 2 Come! Follow directions!

If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

Gates Of Pearl

And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass.

Revelation 21:21

Many times while studying prophecy it is easy to notice the bad or negative message while ignoring the good. My mom used to remind me of this tendency by using the animals on the ark as an example. If asked most people will say that the animals went 2 by 2 on to the ark. This answer ignores the 7 clean animals and only focuses on the 2 by 2 unclean animals. In the same way we often hear people speak of the last days as just that--the last days. Don't we often think of the "last days" as the end of the world? It is not an end at all. When Jesus returns it will be a new beginning. All things will be made new and righteousness and holiness will be the order of the day. Longevity of life will be restored and all men, women, and children will see Christ ruling from His capital city of Jerusalem.

After the millennial reign there will be a brief evil interlude followed by the makings of a new heavens and a new earth wherein dwells purity forever. The New Jerusalem will be seen and be the abode of the saints. The city will have twelve layers in the walls and twelve gates. Each layer and each gate will be named for an Israeli tribe and an apostle respectively. Each gate will be made of a pearl. Why a pearl?

Pearls are formed when an irritant gets between the soft tissue of an oyster and its shell. As a defense mechanism the Almighty Creator programmed the creature to produce a substance called nacre that surrounds the irritating substance. In time the buildup of this material forms a protective barrier around the sand, and it is a visible reminder of the pain that once inflicted the oyster.

In the same way, those gates will be a constant reminder to the saints entering and exiting that city of Messiah Jesus' sacrificial death at the cross. The cross produced grace that surrounded the life of each believer and created something new from what once was an irritant to God's holiness. I am sure that with each step in and out of those gates by every blood washed saint will erupt with a loud shout of praise to the one and only Savior that gave us complete access to the presence of God. Let's start now as we consider the power of the cross and the grace that surrounds each one of us--HALLELUJAH!!!!!

It seems the signs of Christ's appearing are everywhere. Not only are they the signs of His coming, but they are also the signs of the coming of the Great Tribulation and the godless world leader, the anti-Christ.

Again we are reminded of what many know already, the rebellion against God is growing every day. I don't know how it is happening, but we are in the midst of a great revival and at the same time a great falling away. Thousands are coming to Jesus on a daily basis. In some places that are closed to the gospel by Christian missionaries and where government sponsored persecution has forced the church underground, men and women are testifying of visits in dreams and visions of Christ or angels sharing the gospel to them. It is utterly amazing. At the exact same time in countries that were once on fire for Christ there is a rampant spirit of apostasy. The only dreams are those of pleasure, wealth, and fleshly desire.

More than Bread

What two things, if controlled, would bring the entire world to its knees. To its knees? I guess that is not quite true as you think men would go to their knees and cry our to Almighty GOD for help rather than follow a power hungry world dictator who is bent on destruction. Yet, we find men in the New Testament bowing to the anti-Christ rather than serve the Savior Jesus. At any rate, whoever controls the world's food and water controls humanity.

There has been a silent bid to do just that--control the food and water supply--for at least twenty years. No other generation until today has even had the ability to control the food supply until now. It took the the discovery of Watson and Crick, DNA, and its eventual mapping of genetic information to bring that eventual control about. Do you realize that over 95% of the available seeds for food production are controlled by just one or two conglomerates? Also, those same seeds that are available are all genetically engineered hybrids which will not propagate after about three seasons. It is feasible, then, for one man, a charismatic world leader, to gain total control of all food production worldwide.

Always Faithful

And in every province, and in every city, whithersoever the king's commandment and his decree came, the Jews had joy and gladness, a feast and a good day. And many of the people of the land became Jews; for the fear of the Jews fell upon them.

I love those moments! You know! Those moments when something from the text of God's Living Word just jumps right off the page and speaks to you. There is nothing like the experience of God illuminating something especially when it comes from a Bible passage you have read many, many times before. That happened yesterday. It was part of the text I was using to preach and had studied all week. Yet, as I was reading the phrase at the pulpit, "and many of the people of the land became Jews," it popped from the text and spoke as if He was screaming at me. I had read this verse numerous times this week as Sunday was the celebration of Purim--a good time to preach from Esther--but God had a message for me. He let that small line shine apart from the rest of the passage. It immediately let me have insight into all the news of wars and disasters and seemingly inept world leaders I had been fretting over all week.

Think about it! How was evil ancient Persia any different than what we face today? Wicked leaders who denied God and His sovereignty were in charge. The Persians partied with extravagance and decadence for 6 months at the beginning of this story--I am sure that nothing holy went on. They thought they were doing things their way, but there behind the scenes was God bringing His purposes into fruition while playing them like marionettes on divine strings. In the end it was God who was the unnamed hero using a forgotten, insignificant orphan girl and an old man whose name means "little man". The great king of Persia, who called himself the king of kings, and an blindingly arrogant man, Haman, whose name means "magnificent one", ended up looking like buffoons when God finished with them. Revival broke out in the most unlikely place--in captivity a thousand miles from home. God did such a work that many gentiles became Jewish proselytes and began to serve the Only Wise God.

Sometimes we limit the omnipotence of God. We feel that our generation is just too sinful for God to move or save. I have heard people pray that way. I have prayed that way, "God just clear out the demonic forces and we can have revival." Why does God have to clear out the devils to do anything? Since when is God limited in power by what Hell is doing? Does the devil have the capacity to hinder God's plans? Does God have to have godly men in positions of authority before He can bless the world? That is pretty weak if so! Yet the Bible tells us of an omniscient and omnipresent God that likes to work a work right in the face of His enemy so the Almighty can watch Satan's jaw drop when that enemy realizes he was played! God uses Satan's own actions against him to effect the divine will.

No, God is God! He is not wringing his hands or cringing at what Satan is doing now or what will be doing in the future. He is not in heaven's ready room trying to anticipate the next advance of Hell. He is not in a corner writhing in fear that men are getting more rebellious and sinful. He is not frightened to inactivity because many in the church are not following Him with all their heart or walking in the power and authority He gave them. He is God, and He is right now working His plan that in the end will honor and glorify Jesus Christ. He is doing a work in the face of all opposition and really could care less what the devil tries. His power is unimaginable, and His knowledge of the enemies plans is unparalleled. Even Satan doesn't even know what despicable plan he and his minions will try next, BUT GOD ALREADY KNOWS! Not only does He already know but He has molded it into the outcome to make that fallen cherub look like a fool in front of the angelic host and all humanity. He is Almighty and His plans are never frustrated. He has never ever sensed that emotion--frustration. (See the text below)

Sure, things look chaotic. Wickedness seems to be the rule of the day. Godlessness is at an all time high, while values and morals are at an all time low. In the midst of it all there is God. He is behind the scenes seemingly unnoticed and unnamed just like being unmentioned in the book of Esther. In the midst of all of this sin and Hell's finest attempts to destroy, God is planning something that will bring about a similar statement, "and many people of the world came to Christ." Just trust and believe and you will be found as a part of the plans. Even if you feel insignificant and forgotten as surely Esther must have after losing her parents and being part of a humiliated, captured people far from home, God is attracted to those who are weak by the world's standards. He uses the meek to bring about His great plans and promises they will one day inherit the earth. He uses what the world deems as fragile, futile, forgotten, and frail to do a new thing and bless all! How powerful is that?

"They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms; That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners? All the kings of the nations, even all of them, lie in glory, every one in his own house. But thou art cast out of thy grave like an abominable branch, and as the raiment of those that are slain, thrust through with a sword, that go down to the stones of the pit; as a carcase trodden under feet. Thou shalt not be joined with them in burial..."

Unified Destruction

And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.

Are we seeing a foretaste of the fulfillment of these verses? It seems all of the world is focused on events in the Middle East. Today's news about air strikes in Libya is actually a foreboding warning of the terrible events the prophets of both Testaments warned about. As was mentioned a few days ago in a post called "Globalization", those unawares are being taught to think globally nearly daily. The news of a UN ratified no fly zone makes me wonder if this same thing will soon take place against tiny Israel. Unlike Moammar Gadhafi, Israel has the Almighty LORD of Hosts commanding their defense. It would be a futile and foolish mistake even if all of the nations of the world gathered themselves together. Isaiah truly understood this as he wrote, "Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: behold, he taketh up the isles as a very little thing" (40:15).

Every area of life will come under the one world government. From the cradle to the grave, the anti-Christ's policies will control mankind. Even the problem of playground bullies would be monitored by the world governmental agencies. I know! That seems like a silly topic. Or is it? Did you notice the world outcry against bullying in just the last two weeks?

Before I go on, Bullying is a serious problem. I have seen the effects that bullying has on children from years in public education. It is a situation that needs attention. Yet, when did the playground bully become a world concern? It certainly has never been of international consideration before. That is the point! Even something that normally was a local problem can fall under the watchful eye of the entire world in moments. The above video was found on news sites worldwide and has caused a firestorm of political attention and news room chatter.

Take this to Libya, why are we helping to install a new government? Why is the UN vote about military action seen as necessary? Sooner or later the UN will be voting about the legitimacy of other local governments until men realize that there needs to be one single unified world body of government. You are seeing its birth pains now. The world community is involved in Japan, the Middle East, and even the local playground. You are seeing the formation of a biblically prophesied world government in the making.

The straw that will break the back of this unification is the attempt to uproot the covenant land away from those whom God Himself has given it too. Soon, and very soon the world will understand Isaiah's statement about the nations being a drop in the bucket. Israel, who is constantly asked to cede land to terrorists, is only 8,019 square miles. The land of the earth is 197,359,320.7 square miles. Israel is only around 0.01% of the earth's total land mass. The David and Goliath story has nothing on this. Israel is only a tiny fraction of the world yet it is the center of all the world's attention. Surely, if all of the world joined against this blip called Israel, the outcome is sure! Right! Wrong! Hidden behind this tiny nation is an Omnipresent God who is greater than man's feeble mind can comprehend. It is this all powerful, and everywhere present God who protects Israel with unconditional covenant promises.

The day will come when the world will unite against God. It many ways, it has happened already. The surprise will come when all of the world realizes that they are powerless against the Holy One! That little red dot of a nation in the following picture will prove to be unconquerable. It is not because of her righteousness or worthiness, but because El SHADDAI Himself protects her for His own name and His divine purposes. Look carefully at the news. I think you will begin to notice the world uniting. More specifically, I think you will see it uniting against this tiny nation. If you watch carefully and prayerfully enough, I think you will also see the world preparing itself for under unified destruction. The stone which the builders rejected shall soon strike and fill the whole world and those kingdoms will come crashing to the ground. From the crash will rise one righteous government, but it is that small babe of Bethlehem who sits in the place of universal authority. Jesus is that stone!

Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces. Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshingfloors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.
