Jesus Christ: Prophet, Priest ,and King--Psalm 24
Psalm 22 describes Christ's prophetic and sacrificial ministry, and Psalm 23 gives us a glimpse of His priestly ministry. Psalm 24 is the Psalm of the Great King. Notice the three in that specific order each showing the three-fold ministry of Jesus. As mentioned, this is a future ministry of Jesus. As the only God/Man, his earthly ministry would follow that pattern of progression. What a triumphant message. "The earth is the LORD'S, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein." Psalm 24:1 Jesus will come someday soon and claim the earth as His very own. And why not, He has shed His own blood to redeem it. This fabulous Psalm speaks for itself as far as Messiah's return. You can almost hear the excitement as the Psalmist focuses on the triumphal procession through the Eastern Gate. " Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah." Psalm 24:7-10 Notice the Lord has just came from battle. Also notice His name--The LORD of Hosts. There is no doubt as to who alone fits this description. Jesus Christ--The Son of Man/The Son of God.
