The burden of Nineveh. The book of the vision of Nahum the Elkoshite. God is jealous, and the LORD revengeth; the LORD revengeth, and is furious; the LORD will take vengeance on his adversaries, and he reserveth wrath for his enemies. The LORD is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked: the LORD hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.He rebuketh the sea, and maketh it dry, and drieth up all the rivers: Bashan languisheth, and Carmel, and the flower of Lebanon languisheth. The mountains quake at him, and the hills melt, and the earth is burned at his presence, yea, the world, and all that dwell therein. Who can stand before his indignation? and who can abide in the fierceness of his anger? his fury is poured out like fire, and the rocks are thrown down by him.The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him. But with an overrunning flood he will make an utter end of the place thereof, and darkness shall pursue his enemies. Nahum 1:1-8
This message was given to a nation that is eerily similar to the United States in many ways. Both of these nations had national revival. Nineveh had a great revival after the preaching of the unwilling prophet, Jonah, revealed that God was about to destroy them if they did not repent. It was judged about 100 years later and Nahum was the prophet sharing the message to the doomed nation. America has had many great revivals as well. About 100 years ago, the Lord was moving mightily across the land from the hills of North Carolina and Tennessee to the city of Los Angeles. In some revivals, whole cities turned to the Lord. The effects of the revivals in America and Nineveh led people to live moral lives and ungodliness was not tolerated. Yet godlessness is now tolerated in nearly every sphere of public life while the Bible is looked at with contempt. Christ is mocked from the White House to the people's houses. God's will and ways are looked at as the cancer of society. This cannot continue!
Jude warned that in the Last Days men would be"... godless men, who change the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord." Jude 1:4 (NIV) In other words, "anything goes--God loves us and he made us this way, so do as you wish. We are free in Him!" This is not God's way. He is holy and must punish sin. We are and have been under national judgment, and it is getting worse! If men do not turn to Christ in sincerity we will begin to see things men have not dreamed of. It is just a matter of time before the nation is judged and destroyed. All serious prophecy students know that America is not mentioned clearly in end time scripture. That leaves one with the conclusion that the nation imploded due to sin. God judged Nineveh and He will judge America. Please seek his face! Please repent of all known sin! There is forgiveness with God, but it is not a license to live immoral! "But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared." Psalm 130:4
