Enemies of Christ

To the chief Musician on Neginoth, Maschil, A Psalm] of David, when the Ziphims came and said to Saul, Doth not David hide himself with us?

"Save me, O God, by thy name, and judge me by thy strength.Hear my prayer, O God; give ear to the words of my mouth. For strangers are risen up against me, and oppressors seek after my soul: they have not set God before them. Selah.
Behold, God is mine helper: the Lord is with them that uphold my soul. He shall reward evil unto mine enemies: cut them off in thy truth. I will freely sacrifice unto thee: I will praise thy name, O LORD; for it is good. For he hath delivered me out of all trouble: and mine eye hath seen his desire upon mine enemies.
 Psalm 54

There is much prophetic significance in the impreccatory Psalms. These are the Psalms that call for God to destroy Israel's enemies and utterly consume them in judgement. They foreshadow the tribulation period.

No Christian has been allowed to judge any as an enemy of God during the church's history. Jesus commanded us to live in love towards all men, and to lift prayers up for those who curse us and hate us. Stephan, as he was breathing his last, prayed that God would not hold the sins of the crowd stoning him to their charge. Of course, Jesus prayed for the very soldiers at the foot of the cross. Remember, "Father, forgive them for they know not what they do"? We do not have the discernment to decide a person's eternal destiny. We can't see who has or will accept the free gift of pardon in Christ.

The Tribulation period will bring great changes. The focus shifts from the church back to Israel to fulfill Daniel's last week of the seventy weeks. Mid way through, Israel and the Tribulation saints will be able to see who is an enemy of God with an eternal destiny of destruction. How? They will have the mark of the anti-Christ in their right hand or forehead. Once that mark is accepted, they are doomed to eternal destruction. Since believer's will be able to see the enemies of God, prayers for their destruction will be accepted again. Those prayers will seemingly go unanswered for a while, but each and every one of them has been heard by God and recorded. They have been poured out on the altar of incense in the great High Priest's temple in heaven. The High Priest Himself, even Jesus Christ, will answer these personally. When He thunders through the heavens with the host of heaven on His heals, the prayers for vengeance from the Tribulation saints will be answered!

Don't be found and enemy of Christ, friend! The consequences are too awful to recount. Trust Him today as your personal Savior!
