Rosh Hashanah is a multi-facted holiday. Of all of the different themes, one revolves around the creation and the beginning reign of God over the physical universe. It is believed that this is the day that God began to CALL UP the universe! He is still King and LORD of all. Surely HE is about to call up His new creation!
Paul also dealt with newness when he reminded the Christians in Corinth that they were a new creation in Christ. Have you had that expereince? Have you called on Jesus and been born again in newness of life? If so, someday you will raise from this old world when the last trump is sounded and be raised to life without corruption! In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.
