Jesus Christ: Prophet, Priest ,and King--The Prophets

In the story of the two great prophets,Elijah and Elisha, we get a shadow of the return of Jesus. The mantle, a symbol of authority, was given by Elijah to Elisha. This mantle was used to cross the Jordan. And Elijah took his mantle, and wrapped it together, and smote the waters, and they were divided hither and thither, so that they two went over on dry ground. 2 Kings 2:8 On the other side of the river, which happens to be a symbol of death, Elisha watches Elijah get carried away by a chariot of fire.
It is now interesting to note that upon his return, the other prophets bow to Elisha. And when the sons of the prophets which were to view at Jericho saw him, they said, The spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha. And they came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him. 2 Kings 2:15. This is the only place where any man in scripture was allowed to receive worship. This one point should immediately capture our attention. Only God is allowed to be worshipped, so the Holy Spirit is giving us a type of Christ.
Next, Elisha heals a barren land. When Jesus returns, He will heal the world that has just been ravaged by the tribulation. The prophets then go and search for Elisha. The Jews who live through the tribulation will search the New Testament diligently to learn of the Savior that they have not known for the last two thousand years. They will bow as they see their nail scarred Lord.
Also, all that mock Elisha are destroyed. Jesus is not coming back again as the suffering servant, but as the voice of God. There will be no one who mocks the eternal God. When He returns on that great white steed, all will bow. "That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." Phillipians 2:10-11
We all know that Elisha's ministry was double that of Elijah's. If you thought Jesus was great on the first time around, just wait until Heaven's Holy Prophet returns in the Power of God without measure for He is God.
Also, it is interesting to note that Elijah will reappear in the tribulation. When this prophet rises back into heaven, watch out earth! The greatest of all, Jesus the Messiah, is just about to return.

  1. VeriMed Health Link This is cause for concern, If there is a device to detect a flu virus that just happened to "mutate" into a more deadly strain, makes me wonder if the device is for more than just to detect flu etc. and if the flu was created to help us accept an I.D. device more readily, instead of a device created to detect sicknesses more readily. Just wondering.
