Finding God's Will

"Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men: Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free." Ephesians 6:6-8

What is it that God wants you to do? What part of His overall purpose are you to fulfill? Important questions aren't they?

It is no secret that God has a purpose for your life. He does have a task set aside for you. He wants you to be a part of His overall plan that leads to many coming to know salvation in His Son, Jesus Christ.

The problem is that many of us don't spend enough time in fellowship with God in prayer and in His word to ever find the place God intends. Instead, we do things for God with good intention while we ask Him to bless our plan, ministry, or work. In essence, our service tends to be selfish and tends to follow human wisdom and not godly direction.

Jesus taught us the first important element in prayer was to request God's will on earth. "Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven," are the very words He used. Many use this time of year to get vision for the future. Take time to hear God and follow his direction.

It is one thing to do something and ask God to bless it and quite another to do as He wills!
